A Video Game PSA...

Please, please, do not buy or support any downloadable games for any system, unless that is the only way they will ever be available.
I personally (as a gamer) am upset with downloadable games, and here's why....
When you buy a downloadable game they don't provide you with a case, a manual, or EVEN a disc. Shouldn't the game be cheaper than the store version? It's not!
You not only save the company from having to produce a case, a manual and a disc, you also save them having to package and ship the disc to your local store. In reality all you are given is a digital code that requires no shipping. Very easy and cheap for them! Why is the digital version not cheaper?
On top of all that when you download a game to your system, it belongs to that system and user. You cannot re-sell downloadable games.
Technically you can sell a system with games on it, but once that new user creates a profile, poof, those games are gone! Into thin air. The only way around that is to also sell your profile to the next user, and that is very unsafe and not recommended because all your payment info is included
with that, ie, credit card info, name, address, passwords, etc. If the next user does not have that info they can never create a profile, they can never access the online stores, they can never update their games or if the system updates, they won't be able to log back in to their system. Forcing them to create a new and legitimate profile and lose those games.
Someone paid GOOD money for those games originally. Most people tire of their old games at one
point or another, and what do they do? They sell the games and make a little of that money back. They get some money back, the next person gets the game cheaper. Win-Win, everyone's happy. But with a digital game, it can't be re-sold and they get nothing back. The game just vanishes, and that's the worst part!
Ask yourself, where would you find great games like Super Mario, and Zelda, and Mega Man, and any other classic or obscure game you loved, if every copy just vanished into thin air everytime a system was resold? Some games are already hard to get, imagine how hard it will be to find certain titles if most of them just disappeared after they were played. Most games would just be
memories.
I believe digital downloads are created by the greedy, to sell you next to nothing, and only leave you with nothing. No money for you, all the money for them. And then they want you to buy their "new" products and lose those too. Do not support them! They will only kill the video game industry. As Admiral Ackbar would say "It's a Trap!" Don't fall for it.
If you feel the same, email the company of your choice and tell them you don't agree with digital games. Let's put a stop to this! I already have, numerous times. I told them I will NEVER buy a digital game. I won't.
My feelings would be different on this if they passed on the savings to the consumer, by selling the digital games for half-price or cheaper, then it would be justified, but they don't even give you $5 off, not even a penny for that matter. Very greedy! How do they justify the costs? The only way to fight back is with your dollars. Do not support them!
(if the game is ONLY available digitally, there's a good chance it's just an Indie game trying to make it. I have no problem with supporting them)
